Me and my boys (sons) are thinking of planing a trip up there for a couple of days, I have always lived about 3-4hrs away but have never been, Im a city boy and no nothing about the woods and outdoors...

Anytips on places to stay, eat, and play while there. I did a search online and everything was Ripleys believe it or not. Is thats all thats there????? Thanx in advance..

I've been multiple times, love it, one of my favorite places to visit. Stayed in the park vista hotel very nice view of downtown gatlinburg. If you are the outdoors type I'd suggest taking a white water trip down the pigeon river. It's about 30 mins from gatlinburg. You will see tons of different companies for white water choose the cheapest one cause they all go down the same river. Cade's cove in the smokies is pretty cool too usually tons of bears, and other wildlife you can get up close too. As for downtown gatlinburg a lot of good food, ripleys has like 5 different attractions, tram that takes you to top of the mountain and the ski lift. Last time i went i spent 5 days there and enjoyed every min of it. Dollywood is also about 15 mins away.

Any recs in a good cabin at a fair price?
I believe this was the one I stayed in. Worth the money IMO Gatlinburg Cabin Rentals, Smoky Mountain Cabin Rentals, Tennessee Cabins

They have places where you can get caricatures made, so that's another thing you can do...lol

Really good chocolate/candy shops as I recall. I don't care for the hokey dinner shows.

There is also a Nascar themed go cart place if your into that, it's pretty fun.

Rent a cabin there for sure! Depending on how old they are they might like Dollywood, it's an amusement park that I loved going when I was younger! Deffeintly eat at Bubba Gump that is some of the best seafood I've ever had and you can't go wrong with go carts!

also a lot of pretty cool mini golf places. never been a fan of mini golf but the ones there are themed so it makes it pretty cool. Hillbilly Golf was my favorite. Log cabin pancake house is a must for breakfast. dont get caught up by the other breakfast chains, this is where you want to go.

Nice the GF is from New Orleans and loves seafood, and Forrest Gump so it should put a huge smile on her face //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

With family the times that i went, also ate ate bubba gump seafood. Was very good. Mellow Mushroom pizza is across the street from bubba gump and is also very great and affordable.

I was booted from 2 of the go cart places and got in a fight at the nascar place and almost got thrown out of one of the minature golf places, in pigeon forge on my honeymoon, but they have some great cabins and good food up there, I'd go back, if my wife would let me.

LMAO, made me spill my drink

do not forget that pigeon forge is literally 5 minutes away from gatlinburg. they have four or five huge car shows their every year. plan it right, and not only get to chill with the family in g-burg. but get to see a cool car show too.
