it might not be an isolater but a relay

main power-> relay -> fuse -> extra battery in the trunk

an ANL fuse between the relay and my spv44 i was thinking if i needed one id use a 200amp fuse but if its not necessary the more money saved the better

you do need a fuse off your back battery just as you do off your front.

The fuses protect the batt only, so put the fuse as close to the batt as possible.

The fuse protects the conductor only, not the battery. Fuse as close to the power source (battery) as possible. I assume you mis-typed.
