Hi,

I want to upgrade my front speakers to a 3-way component system. I've been told by a couple of people that the Boston Pro 6.53 components (about $550-ish on the internet) are better than the Focal Polykevlars 165K3 (about $700-$750-ish on the internet), and are roughly the same quality as the Focal Utopias (165W3) (about $800-$850-ish on the internet). I know at least one of the guys who told me this is very knowledgeable, but I find it a bit hard to believe that 550 dollar speakers are better than 750 dollar speakers, and similiar to 850 dollar speakers. What are your opinions?

Focals are amazing speakers. Go and listen to both. I've heard both, and would take the polyglass focals over the boston pros. Other good speakers are Dynaudio and CDTs.

i used to own the boston 6.53 three ways and i had custom made fiberglass kickpods in my integra, now i have a civic coupe and the 2 way poly kevlars and the two speakers are very similar....the focals IMO can be much brighter, but the mids are def. much much better.
