Faint high pitch whine-engine turned off

I get a very faint, very high pitched electronic noise when the radio is on and the engine turned off. Faint enough that I can't hear it if the engine is turned on.

New installation-all aftermarket stuff. JL audio, cdt's, 4awg wire, same ground for all items, rca and cable wires run together-far from power or ground lead.

It's barely audible and not there all the time. Almost not worth worry about but I'm so close to having this set up exactly right.

Is this the famous ground loop sound?? Would Big 3 at battery help??

Thanks,

Tom H.

I have a similar problem that only occured when I put in a new amp. Coming from my new amp b/c it was not there before. Through troubleshooting, that is my determination -> the amp (in my case).

Go back and listen closely to the amp. It could be the power supply transformer whining while the amp is on. If your car isnt running, it cant be the alternator..

Rockford amp will do that after a while. some amps will make that high pitched sound when they are powered up. It is such a high pithc that it is very hard to figure out where it is coming from. You could disconnect all your speakers and still hear it. Its somthing in the amp that will start resonating after it has been used a little.
