emo kids ****

I listen to a lot of music that would probably be classified as emo. AFI, I Am Ghost, Schoolyard Heroes, whatever. 85% of my wardrobe is black. But I don't wear eyeliner, cry, or threaten to kill myself either. Hell I don't even have a MySpace. So just because you dress in black and listen to certain bands soesn't make you an "emo ***." I understand what you guys mean about some of these kids though. The ones who constantly complain about their parents, etc. But I think there is a difference between the "punk" scene and the "emo" scene.

There aren't even enough mainstream emo bands for their to even be an emo scene. The scene kids go to a punk show, an emo show, a hardcore show, a death metal show, etc. They will go to a TON of shows as long as it is somewhat rock.

If people think a band like AFI is emo, they are retarded. I don't believe in wide-sweeping labelling via genres, but if you're going to do it, at least be historically accurate. Black Sails in the Sunset, The Art of Drowning, Answer That and Stay Fashionable, etc.....not emo. Sing the Sorrow was a nod to heavier pop punk, December Underground is a push towards techno (like their side band).

Honestly people, just listen to the music you like, dress the way you like, and who gives a shit how a couple of kids dress at a show? If they've got a crap attitude, fine...give them hell. But because of how they dressed? Give me a break.

well........I won't lie a lot of the kids who dress like that(the younger crowd) tends to have a little attitude with em. At least at the shows I've been too but then I just push them away or hit them in the chest and they go away.

They're kids. I don't think I've ever met someone in the 12-17 range that wasn't annoying. But I'm sure we were at least somewhat similar to people older than us, too.

All of their albums? Their music is pretty diverse...there has to be something in there that interests you. Most people who find them too soft really dig Black Sails or Art of Drowning.

They are unbelievable live. One of the best concerts I've ever been to was AFI and Poison the Well.

so you're saying that it's ok to act like a complete idiot to the people who aren't within the most pit to just run over to them and act like a moron? No sir.......I understand and know full well how shows work and know that sh1t happens but if some moron comes out of left field starts pushing and shoving for no reason they are going to get pushed back....end of story.

Oh and to the AFI guy, I just can't stand the music really, I think it's horrible.

I never did moshing really but I'm sure we were considering annoying regardless whenever we were younger. I see your point.

Definitely. Their earlier stuff is a lot rougher and more punk than the new stuff. Ever since Jade came to the band, they've been incorporating more synthesizer stuff. Have you listened to the side-project Blaqk Audio? Pretty cool stuff.
