efficiency???

i checked out a rf amp, the 750x and the birthsheet said that it puts out about 990watts. can this be true actual power? the other thing is the sheet also said the amp is 58% efficient. is this a good rating, and what does it mean?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

The wattage rating is true. Each and every RF amp is built to produce more power than it is rated for. 58% efficiancy is typical to good. It's a class A/B amp which are not big on efficiancy. Class D, X, or T (depending on the company) are much more efficiant for bass amps. THe efficiancy rating is basically a rating that describes how much of the power is useable and how much of the power is consumed by the amp and turned into heat.

the effeciency rating tells you how well the amp turns the DC 12V power into to the audio signal power. This is the ratio of power used by amp compared to what is being deleviered to the speakers. A rating of 58% means if the amp draws 100W from the battery then 58W get to the speaker and the rest is lost in heat, radiation etc. 58% sounds like a fairly high true effeciency rating. Most class AB amps have around a 50% rating.
