Eclipse 5 x 7's and 6.5

Okay, I recently bought these speakers because from what i heard they are highly regarded, etc etc. However, I have already had to replace them twice and i think its because of how i set up my frequencies for the bass and treble. I dont have a component system but i have an alpine deck that lets me adjust the fequencies. The speakers are three way with a tweeter integrated into the speaker. Ive had to replace them because they distort and they rattle really badly. Can anyone help me out with my problem? Any help would be much appreciated.
