double-sided sticky-tacky stuff - sound/air proof?

I'm talking about the black sorta tubular shaped sticky stuff that is really elastic. Are these sound-proof/air-proof?

I am installing an annoying set of components (DEI Vipers, integrated basket) in a car without a lot of room. There isn't enough depth for me to use a proper MDF baffle and screws, so I have to consider other options... Currently i'm thinking about using a thin MDF baffle, and the sticky stuff between the speaker and baffle.

Would this be a good enough seal?

if you are talking about the thin clay like strips then yes, they are air proof. they are good for speaker gasket.
