i ask these questions b/c i don't care about db numbers and i'm trying to find out (9)what's the point of getting your stuff metered? (10) i could understand if you wanted to try and break the "record" in the class you're in, but for what other reason?

eh i hit a 148........ so wtf does that got to do w/anything, you get to say you hit a number on a mic - guess that means u're the shyt or something???

1. i would get my stuff metered to see how loud it is.

2. they mean how loud it is and if they are good then it shows that the effort paid off.

3. no not necasaraly

4. no,you may not play your system at its potential daily.

5. no you could have a cheap install and have a system that doesnt sound good.

6. no if you are happy with your system then its okay,personal prefrence.

7. if you dont care about numbers then they pretty much dont matter to that person.

8. not really but if somone was building a car ment for comp then i can see where this would come to play.

To see how well I designed my system for SPL purposes

Not necessarily, many subs like the XXX or D2 will yeild high numbers while still having superb SQ. Also, some people use port plugs etc. to get good SQ when not metering.

Again, not necessarily, if you use a plug for daily or don't listen to it loud for daily, you will be fine.

If you want high numbers, there are several factors to consider when box building, tuning freq, size, ported/sealed, etc

Im just curious i suppose. Main reason I do it is to see how I can improve my install skills. One measurement doesnt tell me anything. I need multiple measurements to see if new install tactics have worked or not.

SQ, is kind of confusing to me. They do meter it, but its only a fraction of the total points you end up with. You supposed to take pics of the install, get more points for equalizers, the way it looks, I believe it ultimately comes down to what the judge sittting in the car likes, to biased for me personally.

I like competing because it gives me satisfaction that my install and time I put in payed off. I like the shows, b/c 99% of the people there have interest in the same things and useually people are pretty cool at the shows. I dont think Ive ever been out to beat anyone, and dont have a problem getting beat, its all in good fun.

If the # is low, I dont get disappointed, it only rules out an idea I had to make the car louder, trial and error, trial and error.
