Current events discussion

Well, THAT was a short honeymoon
How long before MAGATS start shredding Elon for being a douche?

I wonder if some people will be able to accept that they were on Team Elon for DOGE or his takeover of Twitter, but maybe opposed things like the tax breaks Tesla benefitted from and think this is pretty stupid response to thinking the Federal Budget needs to be smaller, while simultaneously agreeing that the budget should be shrank?

Of course cold can be associated with things other than temperature. For example, there are cold blooded animals, but a more accurate name would be "animals who cannot regulate their body temperature." We refer to people as "cold blooded," but we're not really referring to the temperature of their blood. We refer to murder as "cold blooded" but it has nothing to do with temperature.
So when I go out in the snow and say "I'm cold", you would think I'm a murderer?
So you're really quadrupling down on this "Sleepy Joe" stuff? I find it astonishing that you could be so clueless that you don't understand why Biden got labeled with the sleepy moniker. I could see somebody who doesn't pay attention to politics getting confused by "Sleepy Joe," but for somebody who engages in political discussion daily to not understand how Biden earned that moniker is nothing short of astonishing. Given that there are years worth of Biden video clips demonstrating why Team Red calls him Sleepy Joe, there is nothing that I, Thx, Jesse Watters or anybody else could say to make the moniker make sense to you. "Sleepy Joe" is simply a meme that has gone over your head.
So you quoted Thxone's post that gives a definition of "sleepy" that distinctly talks of "sleep" (as in "not awake") in order to prove that "sleepy Joe" is a moniker that has nothing to sleep?

And when i directly ask you to explain the etymology of the nickname, you can't provide an answer.
Talk about quadrupling down!

So, it caught on because "sleepy" has nothing to do with the definition Thxone posted?
Hmmm.

I don't recall the right-wing's outcry over the tax breaks, gov't contracts, unfettered and unregulated access, etc, that Musk got before.
It'll be interesting if they suddenly become an issue.

Pretty funny that Steve Bannon wants his immigration status investigated, and Musk deported.
Why not prior to the falling out?
Disingenuous?

So, this is only realized now that the Trump and his sugarbaby are having a lover's quarrel?
If they are still in bed, the contracts that are wasting billions and billions of dollars should remain in effect?
Interesting.

If you referenced cold while in the snow, i would assume you're making reference to the temperature. OTOH, if you said said cold in reference to somebody doing something heartless, I would know you're not referring to temperature.

Similarly, when I posted Sleepy Joe in response to video clip, Thx, Spooky, Slapper, et al didn't think themselves "WTF is Jimi talking about? Biden didn't appear tired in the video." Look at this way, it's an inside joke; you had to be there go understand it. We were just assuming that since you were participating in the thread, you wee in on the joke. Maybe you never clicked on any of those videos. Oh well, unfortunately Sleepy Joe goes beyond dictionary definitions, so I guess you'll just have to sit this one out.

You post a definition of sleepy, describing sleep. But you want to argue that sleepy isn't about sleep.

Just like "in" is not "in".

The LAST things you should be arguing about are definitions and etymology of words.
It's so far out of your wheelhouse, it's literally a joke at this point.
Wow... did you just show everyone how stupid you are? I think so!

Sleep is one thing. Sleepy is another thing. Sleepy is not an adjective to describe sleep. According to you it is perfectly acceptable in the English language to use sleepy to describe sleep. Rob, tell me about your sleep. "Well, last night I had really sleepy sleep." - Professor of American English, RobGMN.

Again, I don't understand how he doesn't comprehend definitions but wants to use definitions to bolster HIS arguments.

"Sleepy is not an adjective to describe sleep."
You say this after literally posting a definition of "sleepy" as an ADJECTIVE that defines it as "lethargic, weary, overcome with sleep, tending to fall asleep", and even shows it coming from the word "sleep"?

So you disagree with a definition, yet post it to prove your point?
You think "sleep", "asleep", "weary" and "lethargic" have nothing to do with sleep?
Failed student of American English, Thxone.

Nope, you are wrong again. This is borderline sad at this point Rob.
