Restart, go into the setup menu, select CD first in the boot order, put the CD in the drive, restart, follow prompts to reformat and reinstall...

What happens if you lose the disc? I want to reformat my mom's computer but cannot find the disc. Which version do I need from newegg?

XP Home should do you fine for her pc. Pro has some stuff like remote desktop that she will never use.....
