If the paper towel is soft then you can use it to clean a monitor. Stay away from any towel that feels abrasive though. I am not so sure I would use simple green. I have never used it and don't know it's properties, but you want to be sure any chemical you use doesn't strip the film over the screen. I actually buy the wipes made especially for it, but water and towel will work.

 
I used a wet toilet paper. Simple green is used to degrease engine, strip rust, etc.
Then I wouldn't use that for a monitor lol. If you have fingerprint marks and not just dust then mix up a solution of rubbing alcohol and water. Don't go over 50% alcohol. That would help take fingerprint smudge or other marks besides dust.
