Being without CDs is great.

The other strike against Alpine is the lack of EQ. Though not sure how much that matters for what I am doing with the rest of the setup.

Pretty much. One day I may have a nice system. So many better things I can do for the money...which is why I have no problem getting a $200 CD player to drive back and forth to work.

I just need something to make noise the whole ride.
