Meh, it was drug money hidden in a tire on the side of the highway. I would have stuffed as much as I could in where ever I could fit it and kept workin like nothing happened. No way I would have turned that in.

I would have kept that shit too, there is a 99% chance that anyone driving around with 100k in a bag is up to no good in one way or another and in the slight chance it fell off a Brinks truck or whatever the crooked insurance companies would reimburse them anyway.
I would donate some though, not sure what amount but probably between 10% and 50% depending on my feeling that day.

I would be donating some of it to family members. maybe donate a little to a homeless shelter or something.

All that is 100% irrelevant to the fact that it isn't your money.

It's even worse in your second scenario. That one will trickle down to everyone. Insurance pays out then charges more. Company offsets by charging more, and so on and so on.

I'll be in the minority on this situation for sure, but I see no justifiable reason to keep it.

I'd wear the green tights just for the hell of it.

The degrees of separation aspect is interesting. On one side, I didn't take the money so all is well. On the other side I am basically enabling that behavior and saying it is ok for you to do it. With that being said, it is enough separation for me.

It's like me using allofmp3 to get music. It helps me get cheap music and separates me from the theft. It is safe to say they aren't legally selling music that cheap, but I paid for my copy and will turn a blind eye to what they may be doing.

In the end I won't argue that is is ethical. It is unethical, but I am comfortable with the degree of it.

There are always degrees/levels of law breaking or unethical activity. We all have our lines drawn of how far we allow them to go.

Since the 5th I've worked 5 days...... it sucks that all my PTO they gave me on the 1st is gone but I'll be getting 2 next month for donating to the united way and 1 a month after that until October....
