You don't want too much bass. Ideally, you don't want to know where the sub is coming from. This gets tricky in the vibration of the house.

I still consider 2.1 as I haven't totally upgraded yet. I wouldn't go with maggies either way. I have been looking at Swan's offerings, but they use walnut veneer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

How do I connect the laptop to the receiver? headphone jack? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Yes. Headphone jack will work if your laptop doesn't have a SPDIF/Line out. Ideally a SPDIF would be best. Then you just plug that into a corresponding connection on the back of the receiver. Then plug your MIC into the mic port on your laptop. Go through all the calibrating in the software and play.

I have an HTPC with a front mic port that is connected using SPDIF. So I use that to measure with, but when doing the wifes car, I used my laptop with nice results.

My latop is rather barebones.
I still will have to buy a 3.5mm cable to make this work.
Doesn't matter. It has a sund card and plenty of processing power.

Yes, if no SPDIF is present on the back then you need an adapter that turns the headphone jack into RCA. Very cheap at Radio Shack.

I wonder if PE sells the Mics?
Can I use the MIC that comes with the auto-eq software that came with the receiver....called MCCAA or something along those lines. It didn't do good.

What I think is the issue is selecting the right surround format. There are many possibly selections, and I don't know what the differences are really.
Yes a lot has to do with the format.

Don't use the auto-eq mic. Mainly because you won't find calibration files in the RoomEQ software for it.

As long as I can go here, it's cool.
I can view avatars.
now I did turn off sigs, avatars and pics just so I wouldnt be consuming bandwidth.

Some people in our building download like 9 gigs of data a month, so there is bigger fish than me consuming bandwith at the moment. Just kinda staying under the radar so to speak.
