Probably just because of the size. Sure it's smaller than a normal CRT tv, but it can't really compare to LCD's and plasma.
Yeah, but I think it's funny when people get LCD/Plasma's for the size and plop them on a conventional sized TV stand that would support the same size DLP.

My Sammy DLP is from right before they went to the slimline DLP's, and it's only about 10-11" deep or so, and weighs about 40lbs.

The reason I went with it was because at the time I wanted to spend 2 grand, for that my options were 50-56" DLP, 42" Plasma or a 3X" LCD so I went with the biggest one I could get for the money and the picture looked better to me than the plasmas also but it could just be my set or the settings.
Only issue I have with it is the bulb issue they need to be replaced every year or so if you use the TV a lot, you can get them on ebay for about $100. I got a 4 year warranty so mine have all been covered so far.

Here is mine http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/hdtvs/695/mitsubishi-wd-52525-52-inch-dlp-hdtv.html

Looks like it's actually 130lbs but I think that is with that stand, I got a different one from IKEA that holds all my other shit.

So they are like Chevy's. Cheaper on teh intial purchase, but will cost more over time due to maintenance.

My TV is on every second I'm home whether I'm watching or not. This bulb deal does not sound fitting to my needs.

Bulb should last ~5 years or so.

Don't know where you got that every year thing.

Also, they have the LED DLP's, and I believe those don't even need bulb replacements.

DLP's are cheaper and still have great pictures. I've got a 50" 720p Sammy DLP and it looks great, buddy of mine has a 55" Panasonic 1080p DLP and it looks amazing.

When I get my LCD it's for sure getting mounted on the wall. Would free up quite a bit of space in my room so hopefully I can get a lay-z-boy in here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My only concern is figuring out where to put my vcr, game consoles, receiver and shit. Plus there's the 4 foot tall, hideously ugly, subwoofer enclosure. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I bought mine August 05' I am on my third bulb and the 'warning' light came on three days ago letting me know it is almost time for another.
One was a dud though that burnt out at about 1000 hours.
****, you replace the engine as well?

Happened to mine when I first got it, bulb went out, due to problem w/ dlp engine, replaced the whole thing under warranty, been golden ever since.

I've gotta figure that shit out too.

61" Sammy LED DLP, 3D capable, 1080p, no need to ever replace bulb, $1500 skeet skeet
HO SNAPS! This is harder than picking out a new car!

Never had a problem with a CRT ever though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
See, fricken tanks. The end of indestructable TV's. No onder why they had to go digital with the annalog channels. That was the only way to get CRT people to buy new tv's. lol

Yes I think that is what he replaced, I believe that is what caused it to fail so quick.
Needless to say I am really glad I got the 4 year warranty, I also have a guy in the same condo building as me and he got a 42" Plasma at the same time I got mine and has had 2x the amount of services calls I have so I guess all TV's can some with some problem or another.

Heh, yep.

My parents have a 52" Sony rear projection. My father is looking to replace it soon, probably with a DLP, but anyway, he was telling me when he bought it, they were pushing the warranty, and that the bulb will need replacement after a few years. It's been 15 years and it's still on the factory bulb.
