Ok, so how do they track this. Until we know the answer there really is no telling how exactly they tell who do ban from xbox live.
Also, isnt that why MS is always doing updates? So they know who is using backups and who isnt and also who is using hacked shit? I thought this was the way they kicked people off, without actually doing work or trying to find them. haha

What they track is those using the chips. Problem is many chips come with switches now. You can turn them off when you plug into the net.

They won't be scanning your drive. they are accessing info from the flash that contains the OS and doing scans on changes to the core pieces of hardware or software. Scanning your hdd from it is nearly worthless since it has to be hacked somewhere in the hardware BEFORE the hdd. It isn't like a PC where the HDD contains the OS. the OS is on a flash chip on the mobo. This is what has to be hacked with either software if possible or more likely hardware hacked.

these people who do this, do it just to say they can most of all. Although the wii has a pretty good group called wiibrew. they exploited a buffer overrun in the zelda game to trick the wii into accepting software made by them or anyone else for that matter. It was called the homebrew channel. It was cool because you could get these games and apps developed by enthusiast for free and run them. Nintendo looked away for like ayear until some asshat made an ISO loader to load backups without needing to chip the Wii. Now nintendo is updating a lot to keep breaking the twilight hack and homebrew channel.

Xbox live you have to pay for though, so I guess I wouldn't risk anything at all to lose something I bought.

If I really wanted to hack one, Id buy a second one that I don't use for Live.

What would be the use then other than using it for a media center, if you didnt want to use it online because youre scared of being caught. Thats a lot of subscription money to not use, or to lose if you get caught.
