Chance of them probing far enough to find out the HDD is a hacked one is slim. What they are looking for is chipped units that play "backups". A hacked HDD won't give you that functionality, so they won't bother with that sort of system probing. I wouldn't chip an Xbox if you want to play on live, but I would be confident doing this hack if it wasn't as troublesome as it is. I find it easier to spend more money.

Arent the backups played from the hard drives. Im not sure exactly how they would track either, tho. This is just what I have read a few times.

Also, for the price of an HD compared to the Xbox HD, it seems like the xbox HD is cheaper AND you dont have to do shit to make it work haha. THis is basically what Im saying. I dont see the point unless you want all your movies and music and shit on there, then getting a ridiculously large one would be useful. Ive only seen that twice though. And I dont get the point haha.

As far as cheaper, the 120 MS drive according to that article was 180, a sata wd 120gb drive is going to be much cheaper. Plus you don't have to use a 120, you can use anything 20GB and up, so long as it is a WD sata drive.

Still a hassle so who cares. You need to use one app to dump the info in these sectors and then use this tool to put the hacked info in. It also only works on one series of WD drive the BEV LAT. So this really is useless except to the hardcore hacker who has no life but to show he can do it.

Ok, so how do they track this. Until we know the answer there really is no telling how exactly they tell who to ban from xbox live.

Also, isnt that why MS is always doing updates? So they know who is using backups and who isnt and also who is using hacked shit? I thought this was the way they kicked people off, without actually doing work or trying to find them. haha
