I got mine for $100shipped, included console, wireless controller, & HDD

Apparently it just can't be any old HD though? The xbox has it's own kind of HD that you can purchase separately.

1)Well, I like the idea of either a futon or a day bed. But since I already have the frame, i kind of want to use it. A nice futon would be a better bet to make it more of a chill spot than a bedroom, and only a bedroom if it needed to be. So, it isn't a definitite "No".
2) Doesn't hold all my clothes and is slightly broken. But I guess I could try to fix it.

If you had a set of rims, would you automatically have to buy a car? Sell the bed frame for $40 and then buy a futon with that money. And word on having it as another room to use.

And for a person like myself who is not very computer/tech savvy, it just sounds like more work than it's worth.
Right now I'm only concerned about getting a flat screen. I don't play video games much now anyways, so I can wait on getting one of the new consoles.

I contemplated getting a 4x4 but I don't think its worth the extra cost/maintenance/worse gas mileage for something that I'd probably rarely use.
I'm still thinking about it, but it's not something that I'm looking for in particular.

If you are not into video game much and are getting a flat panel TV, get a PS3. The dvd player alone is worth it. Only games that are exclusive to xbox that are any good is Halo and Gears of War. Most all good games are multi-platform now.

Truth. I was watching spiderman 2 in bluray at best buy and WOW was that picture amazing!

I'm not a big gamer so I guess I'll have to go through some titles and see what sparks my interest more. PS3 seems to be a little better suited for my needs.

Chance of them probing far enough to find out the HDD is a hacked one is slim. What they are looking for is chipped units that play "backups". A hacked HDD won't give you that functionality, so they won't bother with that sort of system probing. I wouldn't chip an Xbox if you want to play on live, but I would be confident doing this hack if it wasn't as troublesome as it is. I find it easier to spend more money.
