I did however meet a girl that I did want to get to know better on Friday.

Well, you have to find out what you got going for you and work from there. We are both in a similar situation in that we cannot rely on our past to bring us into the future. So, you need a gimmick. Mine is finance and economics. It's not that I am great for those things, it's just that I create the perception that I am. Thus, people know me as that. It's just a gimmick, but it open doors.
So you don't even have to be good at something to create perception. I don't have a lot of money really, but people around me think that I do because I make good decisions with money. My friend isn't that good in sports, but people think he is because he creates that image.

I am not sure how long term this works, but it works for now hit and miss.
