We don't really. We just "get" each other and seem to know what works. I don't know how to describe this, which is why I said I really can't help you. Over the years of observing and getting to know her, I understand what is expected. She has done the same. I dunno really. I just know it has worked for the 7 years of marriage and was pounded out the 6 years prior to marriage.

If you want her to do something she doesnt want to do than talk to her about it. She is going to expect you to do things she wants to and you dont. Relationships arent trade-offs. If you feel burdened its probably not going to work.

You do what you have to and you retain as much of your self as you can. Sometimes it is worth it just to give in and other times it is worth it to say "fVck that."

Couldnt agree more. It just seems flip doesnt want to compromise and doesnt want her to either. I could be wrong about that its just the feeling I am getting for the smattering of his posts I read.

No matter what both people are going to have to give some things but at the same time it shouldnt feel like a burden or 'work'.

Shit son, you never figure it out. I still make rookie mistakes. For example, the other afternoon my wife asked me if I wanted to go out to eat with another couple later that night. Foolishly, I answered the specific question that she asked and the answer was "no." I should have known better.

She was pissed later.

The thing is that if she had said, "I would like for us to go out to eat with [whoever]" I would have said, "great, let's go." No big deal.

I think it is ridiculous to have to either (a) guess, what she means, or (b) drag it out of her with unnecessary questioning. If you want to know whether I want go, then ask that. If you want to know whether I will agree to go because it is important to you, then by all means say so.

Again, I should know better --- but I slip up from time to time and rely on logic.

The problem comes in enforcing the math. If the math says 5A + 5B = 1X, it doesn't translate to real life, and I realize that. But at what point does disequilibrium cause problems? I am not sure. I do know that explaining this to teh gf was not as fruitful as I anticipated.

Flip one of the reasons I think your approach is so funny is that I know we all struggle -- and most of us do not start off thinking/expecting the womenz will either be logical or understand an analytical approach. Tell me about it. Like I said, I know better, but I was distracted at the time and the first thing that came out of my mouth was the truth. That is almost always a mistake when dealing with a woman.
