If you drop a single coin off of the top of a skyscraper it can penetrate concrete - and lots of it.With that in mind I do not see why a high-velocity acorn couldn't break this layers of glass...even safety-layered / tempered automotive glass

Actually, with a penny atleast, it will reach its terminal velocity as it falls which is not fast enough to be fatal or break concrete.

If you propel the acorn with something besides just gravity, I'm sure you can break glass.
