That does **** when the guy can't be upfront about it to her or to you. Imo, the best way I've always found to handle these types of things are to just calmly and smoothly talk to the girl about it. You know, assuming the aren't true, you have no reason to get upset type of thing. Then once you've talked to the girl and got that settled out, "explain" to said "friend" why talking anymore shit would be a bad idea with a crowbar upside his head.
