how do you clean a really used burnt up soldering tip? Like its brown and real oxidized i guess. I tried using a metal scrubby thingy but no luck, i event ried it when it was hot. it cleaned some but not enough.

What if i submerge the iron tip in acetone for a few hours, any downsides to that just want to loosen up the contamination a lot?

Let it stay dirty. Use a sponge when you solder.

Don't clean you iron tip.

If it tins ok and soliders ok don't screw it up.

If it is that bad, buy a new tip.
