Yeah, I've been to multiple sites, looked at all type of manufacturers...

I could get by with a $600 lappy... but... if I spend a little more it will last longer in the long run.

The specs that really matter to me...

Core 2 Duo, High Resolution Screen, 160gig + HD, 2 gigs of Ram...

I might go with an iBuypower again... for the same price as others that come with integrated graphics, I get an actual 512mb dedicated graphics card...

Seems like it's the iBuyPower or Lenovo for what I want...

But, what is wrong with mainstream computer? Dell, Sony, Toshiba?

Every off brand or small computer company computer I have owned or worked with has been junk and fell apart after a short while.

Mine is still functionally perfect after well over 2.5years. Stupid plastic mounts I wish I could fix... and if wasn't for f-tard james It'd still be fine.

Not to mention both of the options I listed feature better specs, for less money than the dells I've tried to customize... or the pre-packaged toshiba's...

Well you are right about the Sat line of the Toshiba's having that problem.

But, my Dell problem was because I dropped it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It still works fine and I use it on my desktop screen.

And I think that the plastic breaking is a major reliability issue. Plus, I can remember one time when a certain computer wouldn't power on for some unknown reason.

Anyway, IMO most computers are junk. Good luck getting 3+ years out of any new one. Too much heat generated in too small of a space.
