This is true. My older Promaster AF lens did not AF with the D40. It has a mechanical AF, where as the D40 uses a purely electronic interface between the lens and body.ill probably get the D40, but will get a custom package put together. but now, im considering getting a used D50 after some of the things i have been reading... the D40 is a pretty awesome camera, but apparently it will only auto focus when using the AF-S nikon lenses, so you are pretty limited lensewise, unless you spend an *** ton of money...
but the lens i want for most snap shot type pictures is an inexpensive AF-S lense, so i dont know... i want to play around with the D50 and see what the differences between the two are.
but i know that i want the 55-200mm VR lens, and the 50mm f/1.8 lense with the camera //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
