HELP!!!

I got the package from Jeremy @ Alpine today (He 2nd Day Aired it!!!) but one of two things is going on here.

Either I'm a moron (quite possibly the more likely scenario here) and do not have the required mental capacity to work out how these clips attach to the HU

OR

Jeremy sent me the clips which are for the same cage but a different headunit.

Here is a pic of the CDA-7930 HU, the cage that Jeremy sent me, and one of the clips he sent me.

From the looks of the clip there is supposed to be one hole for a screw to go through and there should be two detents on either side of that screw hole to hold it in place via the 'pegs' on the backside of the little clip.

I see how it works to grab the hook on the front of the sleeve (though I have no clue how you would get it back out once it is mounted in a dash //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif ) but there isn't any screw holes in the side of this HU for it to mount to??

Any ideas?

A man and a woman were waiting at the hospital donation center.

Man: "What are you doing here today?"

Woman: "Oh, I'm here to donate some blood. They're going to give me $5 for it."

Man: "Hmm, that's interesting. I'm here to donate sperm, myself. But they pay me $25."

The woman looked thoughtful for a moment and they chatted some more before going their separate ways. A couple months later, the same man and woman meet again in the donation center.

Man: "Oh, hi there! Here to donate blood again?"

Woman: (shaking her head with mouth closed) "Unh unh."

The trim ring isn't the same type of affair that I am used to.

All the ones I have dealt with on my Kenwood decks was simply a plastic ring which would have small tabs on the top and bottom edges that caught into corresponding slots on the HU.

The one on this Alpine had to have screws removed to take the trim ring off of it. (review previous pic to see what's missing)

Well, putting the spring-loaded clips in the same screw hole that is supposed to hold the trim ring in place wasn't the cure.

The clips, when mounted there, stick out away from the sides of the chassis too far to slide the cage over them.

Sooooo ~ that's not it either.

I'm just about to say phuggit and chuck the whole bloody thing out the window.

See?

This is what happens when I stray from that which I know...
