The deal with sports cards is very similar to comic books.Even still.....chances of me getting back what I have invested.....be slim. Very few cards are worth much anymore. When the "card boom" was on, prices were 4x what they are now. If there is ever another boom, then perhaps I can see them being worthwhile. But as it stands....my collection is gonna sit in dry cold storage for the next 30 years.
Dude, you think I can remember who the "big name" players were back in the 70's!? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifGo through your little collection and seperate "superstars" from "common" players. Buy nice plastic holders for your big name guys.
That is the funny thing, I bought them when I was like 12, took them out of the original Topps packaging, placed them in the shoebox they are in now and that was it...yet now they are classified as "used"...lol...I would figure used would be taking one, attaching it to the rear frame of my old BMX bike and riding around with it sticking through the spokes making that neato sound as I rode around the neighborhood. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifthey are used now...if they were new they'd be worth more
I'll see if I can determine the "big name" players as misfit suggested and then I'll send ya the pics.Haha.....yeah I bet. PM me what ya want for them shipped, and maybe we can work something out. Pics would help too.
I'm not sure exactly what I considered it back in the 70's...but I'm sure I knew it wasn't an investment OR a hobby. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifThe deal with sports cards is very similar to comic books.
Cards:
In the late 80's - early 90's, EVERY kid loved cards. The problem is that the cards from that period were overproduced and cheap as shit. The market is very different now. People chase after "inserts". Collecting is pointless unless you can drop big $$$ on rare insert cards.
Comics:
In the early 90's, lots of kids were big into comic books. With the industry booming, lots of things went downhill. Artwork suffered, storylines became retarded, reboots and pseudo-deaths of iconic characters became the norm and print runs skyrocketed. When the boom was over, the comic companies nearly went out of business. It's only just now starting to pick up a bit. People chase "variants". Variant covers can be as rare as 100:1. These variants are your best bet if you're collecting for profit, and even then you'll take huge losses from time to time.
People need to realize that collecting cards & comics isn't an investment. It's supposed to be a hobby...
I can.Dude, you think I can remember who the "big name" players were back in the 70's!? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Let me see them...especially the Spider-Man stuff.I have about 10 that are from 1960's they were my dads. Spiderman, Hulk, Thor, Avengers, Dr Strange or somethin.. idk, some weird ones. I wish they were in mint cond.
X2 I have a friend who owns a store and he buys most of the stuff by the pound there. Basically buy at 50 cents out for 1$ sort of thingIf they're newer than 1980, there's a 99.9% chance that they're worthless...
