Cali Vs Hawaii Vs North Carolina

Did I mention the earthquake?
I do take note of the danger, but ... screw it. If it has everything else going for it, I'll overlook the fact that I might die young. However, I do not really know how socal compares to the carolinas or other places, so feel free to add to the discussion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

NC is a good place... cost of living is low. and u get all the seasons
I don't want all of the seasons. I want sunny and beautiful every day. I don't want to sweat my d!ck off on the equator, but I want it sunny and nice year-round no snow and stuff, thanks.

I guess if you like good weather and don't care about paying out the *** for living and amenities, then there's nothing I'm going to be able to say to talk you out of SoCal.

Well, cheaper places are always a bonus. Tell me something about the carolinas. I'm open to all sorts of advice. All I mean to say about LA is that it "seems" the best for ME so far from my research. But I really do want any and all advice.

Agreed.

The best way to really know which you will like most is to spend some time in each place. You probably know this though.

I wish I knew about Cali, but I do not.

NC is pretty cool. The weather is straight. This winter really wasn't all that cold, and this summer has been pretty hot. As far as jobs, that will not be hard to find, especially with an engineering degree. Your best opportunity would be in the Raleigh area, which is like 2 hours from the beach and around 4 hours from the mountains.

Of course, but that isn't an option for me right now being a poor college kid. I am going to apply for internships soon and based on my research, will target a particular state. That way I can get some job experience, live in the state for a little while, and see if that's what suits me. I'm currently trying to decide which state to "visit" through an internship first and all advice is welcome.

Personally, I love living in a suburb to the Charlotte area. Where I live is small enough to not have to deal with traffic every day, but it's still a decent size and a mere 15 min away from Charlotte. Weather is pretty good, but it's not SoCal, that's for sure. As the others have mentioned, living so close to the mountains and beach is pretty freakin awesome. The best part is the cost of living. For the same price you would be paying for a shack in SoCal, you could have a pretty decent sized house. I've done the research for Econ class. Let my pull up some of my work.

Decent house vs. nasty run down shack.

That is the question.

Not really, but it is important.
