I have a Alpine CDA-7949 head unit. The problem is that it wont read most of my burned cds. Sometimes it will play the first song but when skipping to the next track it will take about 10 seconds before it will start playing the song. Is there a way to manually clean the lens?

what speed are you burning your cd`s at. i find the slower the speed the better 1 or at 2 X`s is the fast as you should burn them at, i have burned a cd at 12x`s and it did work, but there is some spots that are not as good as others

B.S.

your deck should read home burned CDs no matter what speed you burn at. you have A) bad CD player or B) a bad burner.

i burn mines at 16x and have no problems. burning a 80 minute (or 700 mb) cd at 1x or 2x will take u over 30 minutes. i can't even stand the 20 minutes on a 4x, but if u got the patience, give that advice a try. however, i will agree with the guy above me and either change ur cd player or cd burner. what kind of player and burner do you have?

oh yea, it may also be the disk ur using, what kind are you using? i would stay away from those budget cd's for audio, but use them for data. for all my audio cd's i use only TDK or Memorex. My friends have success with Fuji, and Sony. I remember when cd burners first came out, this was a big problem. Some cd players just cant read some cd's, but i thought that problem was fixed now, maybe not tho.
