I want to build a system up for my blazer I own a Jvc KD-SX1000R deck but I have absolutely nothing else so its basicly a fresh start. I listen to mostly metal and a bit of rap I have never built a system before but I have been reading a lot though. I dont want to slam down a ton of cash but Im willing to spend what it takes to make a good sounding system. everything will be in fiberglass boxes as the interior of the truck is going to be completely done out in fiberglass and I want it all to look good.

I started my systems with a good deck. That way I would have expandability in the future. Once you have that I left my factory speaker in until they broke to save money at the time. To preserve their live. Take all the bass out of them and if your deck has high pass filters use them. Otherwise your factory speakers cone will break pretty quick. My next investment was an amp and sub. If I were you, I'd go with a single 12" for starters. I'd get your sub from ED or RE. Good stuff at a good price. I wouldn't get a crappy amp, I've had a kenwood and a lightning audio that put out supposedly 300 watts rms bridged, and 150 rms per channel. I got them for what I thought was cheap, about $140. There are worse amps, but both of these have caused subs to fail. So I finally went out and got me a decent amp planet audio. Haven't had any problems since. The kenwood and lightning audio amps that I have would do fine with mids and highs, but I just don't think they were meant for subs. I'd get an amp that you can bridge to 2 and 1 ohm. JBL makes an amp that you can pick up fairly cheap and I've heard people that are happy with them. Also planet audio makes good amps but your have to pay a little for them. I would get an amp that puts out at least 600 watts rms that way if you want to add another sub later they will each get 300 watts. Planet audio has one that does this for around $230 and JBL has one for around $200 maybe a little less I believe. From there once you have saved up some money you can look into replacing your factory speakers.

If pretty sure the deck is pretty decent

Right now I have no stereo the truck is COMPLETELY in pieces and waiting for me to finish building up my 350 and then drop it in as well as do the body and paint and interior (not much left to do... lol)

I was looking at the Jbl 1200.1 amp for 250 I need good fronts as well and a good amp for them. how can you tell what is a weak sub amp and what is meant for fronts?

They have an amp for a good price right now. A sub amp is usually one channel 600x1 for example. A sub amp is usually able to handle loads of 1 or 2 ohms. Don't get an amp that is stable down to 4 ohms for you subs. You want the one that can handle 1 to 2 ohms. The edesign amp is called NINe.1. While you're there you can look at their subs. If your deck has an internal amp then I would run your front speakers off this temporarily to save some cash.

I did manage to learn the basic's about amps. I decided im going to pump 2 tens More then likely PG 10 ti's. I havent desided on the amp yet but its going to have AT Least 1000 watts. the ed nine.1 sounds like most of the others I was looking at but it has a 3 year warranty and I havent heard anyone talk about it has it even been released yet?

for the headunit i would suggest an Alpine 9805 model. it has 3 4 volt outputs. if u look they are around 150 although they are hard to find now. but anyways Alpine are great amps...i got the 9805, mainly cuz i heard alpine is good and it has the 3 4 volt outputs which i heard sends a cleaner signal to your amps.

The ED amp isn't being shipped yet and that's why there is a price cut right now if you preorder to get it for however much I stated before (I can't remember). But then after that it's supposed to go up to like $400.
