Ok Ive posted many upon many threads bout my sub and questions about it.... so here is another one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My sx 15" should be here in 2 days, and my box should be done by then... how long should I break it in for... I was told RE uses the same Rubber as Kicker and Kicker says to break in there subs for about 2 hours...?

What do you think?

Low-frequency, low-power, no enclosure, 3 hours is what I do ...
just be carefull because you can easily reach xmax when a sub is not in an enclosure with a low frequency. other than that , i do the same thing. i suggest a 20Hz @ -10dB.

That would be the reason why I said low power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Just enough to get it moving a decent amount is all you need ...
yeah...i saw that. just wanted to reinforce that fact the he has to be careful when doing a free-air break-in:D.

I think it is, because what your doing is expanding the rubber on the outside, to get it moveing and used to the movement...... I didnt think it was good to get it just pounding right away...

But what do I know?

it's not important. but it can be beneficial. just as you do when you buy a new car, you want to break-in the engine for a good 3000 miles. it allows all of the mechanics of the sub to loosen up. it's so easy to do, why not do it?

It doesnt matter if u put it in an enclosure or not.... but when u have ur sub in ur enclosure its more tempting to turn it up :]

I think u need to....to a point..they r stiff right out of the box. What i do is play it at moderate levels for about 2 weeks. Now dont get me wrong u can crank it up once in a while just dont go crankin it up right out of the box all day..everyday.Ull hear them get loose and play lower after a while once they get broke in.

Nicely put //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/handclap.gif.0c301076f534e244f0460706894f19e0.gif

But Isnt two weeks along time?

Ok i think ill answer my own question..... I does depend on the sub

BUT most companys that I know of say 1 week at the most but its all on your likeing. I DONT think ITS ABSOLUTLY NEEDED but IS very good for the sub to get worked into.

Hey man i have been doin spl for over a year goin on 2 and to really break in a sub you would need to play it for 24 hours. But unless your doin spl you don't really need to. In my everyday car i just throw it in play it at medium levels and move up everytime i get in the car. You really wouln't notice a break in because after so long your ears get adjusted to the sound.

I disagree with solo.Every setup ive had(subwoofer wise)ive noticed a break in.They clearly play lower(as they get looser) when u break them in.
