hey guys i just bought one of the 12" subs from MB Quarts premium line off of ebay. I was in a store and listened to the discuss line 12" and hear how clean and accurate it was.

It was installed in a vented enclosure. SOme people have been telling me to put it in a sealed...

I dont know what to do. I can get the local car audio shop to custom build me a box and im wondering what I should do. I only have the money to do this once..

I listen to moslty a punk rock music, fast and heavy rock music, etc... I like to be able to feel that double bass peddle hit. Anyone know what would help me do this? Ill be powering this sub with an alpine mrd-m500 (rated 547rms x1 @2ohm on the birthsheet).

Also what material would I want tis box made out of? fiberglass? wood? what?

any help would be appeciated thanks.

First of all I want to know if you tried out your sub yet, I am really interested in getting 2 of these. I would put it in a sealed enclosure, probably around .9 ft^3 or whatever the specs are for. I've always used wood boxes and never used a fiberglass one. It may help a little but maybe not for the tight bass you're looking for.

yes i have tried it out. It is in a shitty 1.25cu foot sealed enclosure made by Q logic. I have only ran 500rms to it. It is very quiet. I either need WAY more power to it, or need to put it in a different box. Maybe a ported one to get more SPL.

I want to get another one two and run them at 1ohm. But i was thinking of getting a 10" and stick that up behind my dash and keep the 12 in the trunk. I often have people in the back of my car and to have the bass as loud as I want it upfront is too loud for the back. Also i think it may be good to have some umph up front.

however i wont know what any of this will be like till I try it and waste$$

Bass wave lengths are long so you dont hear them right next to the speaker. If in remembering right a 20hz wave length is 20ft long. So putting a sub upfront aint going to make the bass louder in the front maybe just louder in the cab.
