well, I have never heard any of these subs, but this is what everyone else is gonna tell you

Orion H2

theres a few more but thats all i can think of

to narrow it down, what do u want out of ur system, what kinda mix between SPL and SQ, etc.

Check out http://www.edesignsaudio.com they are having some good pre production sales if you don't mind waiting.

http://www.adireaudio.com some of the middle of the road stuff.

http://www.respl.com the SE series. the HC aren't made anymore I belive but they made the SX to replace it I think, but that might be more.

http://www.ikesound.com check on the Kicker, Alpine stuff. Use to have a good deal on the type-r 15s.

that is a powerful amp though. Ever think about Just one 15, I think you can get the XXX for under 500. If you don't plan on competing save your ears some pain.

If it is 550 a sub the XXX, Brahama, Mag D2, or even like some L7s would be good. With that much power though I would think your looking at compation.

The SX is about 260 shiped, well i payed 260 for a 15" SX shiped, I can NOT wait for it to come in, im pretty excited. If your still looking for subs after I get mine and also get it in my car (about a week or so) then Ill let you know how it is, BUT from what I have heard is that there KICK ass. 260+260=520 There is still some extra cash. I would tell you to get the SX cause of all the positive things I have heard (thats what led me into buying one). Also IDK if you know or not but the SX is the new upgrade of the HC, so its a new series! 1200 watts RMS each...

If not get 2 L7's or something

2 15" L7's will be louder than most of the other subs for $550, you can get 2 15's for $500 and sealed box on http://www.ebay.com, or get like 4 15" sony p5's they own all (NOT!!!!!!) hahahaha that would be pretty cool though

If u have 2 hifonics brutus 1500 (3000watts total@!) than $550 wont give u the subs u need to throw that much power at. I personally would save up a bit and run 2 subs that can handle 1500 watts rms. Or maybe sell one amp to pay for the two subs. But hey thats just what i would do dont listen to me........
