I dunno...I just sold my Clarion DX516. I want a good head unit. Should I go back with a Clarion? I hear Panasonic is good. I've been looking at a CQ-DF601U. I've also been considering the JVC KD-LX300 for sheer cosmetic reasons. Also, what do you think about Rockford Fosgate HU? Help, please.

clarion=high quality

i had a kenwood, and was dissapointed that over time the rubber parts stiffened up and started skipping when the bass hit.

Just got a new 725 and it rocks

I dunno about u, but I wouldn't put my $ into JVC, have friends who have 'em and dont like 'em.

Eclipse. 3 year warranty when dealer installed, 1 year theft and breakage warranty......thath means that in the first year if the unit is protected by the esn, or it breaks within that year, they replace it so there is no waiting for a unit to be repaired......pretty sure about themselves I would say and I can say so also. I am on my third eclipse yet my first one an ecd 412 is still in a friends car .....a deck from the early 90's:cool:

Alpines are definately the most advanced head units with Bass Engine; Versatile Link; MediaXpander; 60W x 4 V-Drive Hybrid Amplifier; etc. I just purchased the Alpine 7893....AWESOME!

I can't believe you alpine guys yes they have some nice features our store sold both alpine and eclipse, but I gotta say for sheer bullet proof performance can't beat an eclipse. Yes the AI net systems are nice but can't touch the Eclipse DDL GFO (direct digital link glass fiber optics) systems of past eclipse (now not available due to cost to consumer) Eclipse was way ahead of their time when they introduced the system in the late 80's early 90's Features like time alignment, the ability to set delay times IN YOUR CAR then was unheard of but the eclipse did it. Sure Alpine has the bells and whistles but side by side pure sound quality, the Eclipse well ..........Eclipses alpine. Need I go on okay low line level impedence around 50 ohm in most cases better in others, higher preamp voltage, both needed in getting a strong clear signal to the amp for optimum sound quality . All brass moving parts for strength, in cd section. One of the best damping systems (without having a buffer) on the market today.............and should I go there I think I have to any company that sells out and lets citcut city carry their product can't be lookin to hit the cream of the crop market. Besides look at MOST of the folks that install for circut city, if it weren't for their computer they couldn't install or troubleshoot anything.........They can't even install a system that is worthy of sound quality competition on the amature level and even pro........they just don't have the caliber of equipment......so when I say ECLIPSE you better freakin' believe it is the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i just installed a new panasonic deck (about three hours ago) and i have to say that so far i am impressed with it

i've had a lot of different head units over the years, and my best advice is this: pick the one you like the best!! as long as it's not a sh****y brand, you won't have a lot of trouble. you can get all the bells and whistles you want, but few systems are of high enough caliber to necessitate a ton of signal processing. things like adjustable delay times are sweet no doubt, but in the hands of people without rta's or trained ears, i think there's a pretty good chance they will garbage up the sound quality. stick with the big names, i.e. alpine, eclipse, clarion, panasonic, nakamichi, etc... then just pick out what you like or what you can get the best deal on. read some car audio mags. notice how most cars in there have different brands of head unit... makes you wonder.... my last head unit was an alpine. currently running a clarion dxz-716 and love it!!!
