its a job and you get a discount you can use. I think its not a bad first job, the key with the low paying jobs your going to hate is atleast get something more out of the job then paycheque. you are getting a first job, and a discount cannot go wrong. Even if not everything is cheaper off discount im sure the odd thing will be a killer savings. and open items at 50 percent off cant be all that bad.

Best Buy does have huge mark-ups, but they will price match pretty much any store.

One of my buddys used to work at best buy, and whenever I went in there to buy something while he was working, he'd hook me up like you wouldn't believe. The most I saved in one day there was over $1000, no joke. I bought everything I needed for my home stereo setup. Reciever, cd/dvd player, surround sound, tower speakers, and 2 powered subs.

All he did, was entered the item into the computer, and found out which store was selling the same thing for the lowest price. Did that on everything I bought, and I ended up getting everything for $1k less than best buy had advertised.

So I'm sure you could do the same thing since you work there, and get an additional 35% off. That would be some rediculous savings! Doooiiit!

When I worked there I got cost plus 10% off. Got the Viper 7900 or whatever, Remote start 2-way paging, back up battery, 2 mini pezos and paid one of the install guys to do it all for $250, it was great.

i used to be a best buy install manager when that position existed. now its consolidated into install/sales/cell phones....anyways i started at $14/hr and ended at $19/hr before i left to a custom shop. i have never known anyone, experienced or not getting less than $10/hr to start...then again gas was $1.25-2 at most at the time

Silver go apply. It doesnt hurt .. all you would be gaining is a new job and something to do during school/summer. Yes the mark ups at bestbuy is pretty high. But the discounts are incredible. Over here in brooklyn i'm currently getting 9.78$/hr. maybe it has something to do with work exp. but im not sure. the starting wage for installers here is ~13$/hr.
