battery corroded

I would think that is should not corrod that fast. I would contact the place you bought it from and ask them to replace the battery. Or contact the manufacture direct and let them tell you. GET IT IN WRITING so you can back your a$$ up if it fails early.

 
I would suspect the terminals to be the culprit rather than the battery. If they are brass, they will corrode quickly, which is why brass terminals are plated. If they are plated it is likely that the plating it scratched through to the base metal. Current going through the terminals will cause a galvanic reaction that will cause the corrosion to occur quickly.
