I want to know how can i get the most spl out of my IDMAX 12" while still keeping it a sql setup. i'm going to build a 2.5 cube enclosure tuned to 32 hz but i want to know how should i place it in the car. in other words which way to put the enclosure in the trunk would be louder. and i have a metal rear deck, the seat lays back down but the hole is only 30x16 inches

1. sub facing taillights ports going same direction

2. sub facing taillights ports going through rear deck angled to bouce off back window

3. seal off trunk from interior with fiberglass bondo sheet metal ect. and face the enclosure along with ports forward(so as far as the sub is concerned its in the back of the interior and the trunk doesn't exist as far as pressurizing air

You absolutely need to try it out in all those locations.

Depending on your car's unique interior acoustics, "any of the above" could be most ideal.

If you don't want to try your sub out in all those locations, just get your hands on ANY piece-of-scrap sub in a box, and temporarily hook that one up.

move it around in your trunk.

The location that it sounds best at, your sub will also sound best at. It'll just sound better. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Choice #3 will be a bit tricky for you to try out.

If properly executed, it would be even louder than the other choices - simply a function of cabin gain, as you've essentially removed your trunk airspace right out of the equation.

However, if you decided to go the option #3 route - why bother with any enclosure at all?

You've gone through ALL that work - the work that is the very thing that discourages most people from running infinite baffle (IB)...

Since you've done all that work - why not simply go IB? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Heck, with some experimentation, you can even port an IB install if that's your goal.

Eats up no trunk space... and it's one monsterously efficient way to go.

If anything, you'll have to be careful that you don't have TOO much power. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
