Get off my lawn.
Planning on putting in a stamped concrete patio within the next month, and am pretty clear of my intentions when calling people for estimates. Also clear they are not the only person coming out, and that I do have other prices and will be doing research etc. SEVERAL contractors have committed to a time and date to come out and look at the proposed job (easy as shit for anyone with any experience) and I have like 6 no-shows and they dont even bother to give me a call to re-schedule.

WTF People, I am trying to give some cash to someone that wants to do a job here!!

having the same problem trying to get a landscaper to put in some stairs in my yard!

thats what im sayin... One guy gave me a great price, BUT his BBB rating is a F so, he is out! Before I knew of the poor BBB rating, I asked to see some of his work, he says "you can come see my house" Well, dumbshit, let me guess you did an EXTRA nice job on your own home?

ANOTHER guy says he will match any price I get, lives a street over, but doesnt answer calls or E Mails very well.

Right now, the front runner is a guy thats moderately priced, has a BBB rating of A- and says I dont pay him a dime til the job is completely done.

proposed job is about 960sq ft stamped/colored/sealed concrete patio with no real obstructions.. Its a one day job! (well, they will have to return after a few days and power wash and seal it)

Not having this would be a deal-breaker for me. If you pay for work in advance your just asking for that job to take 10x longer and possibly not even get done.

yah, Id make a SMALL deposit at best to get it started. But balance will be paid when its complete. Too many contractors running around out there that are upside down, waiting for money from the next job to finish the last

Nah bro, they do die in the winter but then when it warms back up they arrive with the black flies and the mosquitoes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

sure they are here.. They drive around in 80-90's GMC Sierra's with stepside beds and wheels that are too wide. Interiors loaded with as many as can fit! Hilarious sight going down the freeway! Our Masons are all Guidos here though not Messicant's

i've had a similar problem. Needed some work done around the house, mainly remodeling.. and i had three no shows. Couple days later, i get two calls asking me to reschedule it.

Makes me believe that people who do construction are lazy...

Depends who it is. I work construction and work harder than most on here, I'm sure. If you even have time to poast while you're at work, then your job isn't very taxing or you're not working very hard. I personally think that most people who work in offices are lazy as they generally only do actual work for a few hours a day and ******** the rest of the time, from what I've seen and heard from those people.

Tis true.

I work 50-50 office and field work. Office work is boring and makes the day pass by slow. I can feel myself getting fatter sitting in an office chair.

Working in the oil field is very hard labor, but is constantly changing and exciting making the day go by quickly. I
