The reason why you SHOULD get a desktop if you're looking for a gaming computer is because it's significantly cheaper to build and upgrade, you have a much wider variety of parts available, and it will generally be more reliable (more space, more airflow ... assuming you know WTF you're doing, of course).
Yes, if you're the type that LANs a lot, then a gaming laptop may be worth the extra cost, but for most people who game, they would be better off w/ a gaming desktop and a basic laptop which they could get for less money than the gaming laptop itself ...

32bit will still recognize 3.xxgigs from what I've been told...no point in upgrading to more than 2gb of ram if that OS is 32bit
