animated avatars

hi, i see a lot of users with animated .gifs in their avatars but i was unable to upload one in my user cp. it said i was "not allowed to" so i guessed it might be a '06er thing but i saw other '06ers with .gifs. can anyone help me out?

it is within avatar size rules

Officially they are not allowed, but if u had one before goob updated things well you'll have it untill its removed.
