amp wont turn on.

is it really bad when the ground wire and power wire accidently touch each other when the power is on? Today i finally installed my amp (first time) and while i was moving the amp over the ground wire got a lil loose and then touched the power wire. I heard a lil electric shock but the amp light was still on so then i immediate turned off the system and took off the negative battery post. i then re redid the connections to make sure they wouldntlt touch each other but when i tried to put turn the system back on the amp wont turn on.

I have a rockford punch 4080 dsm and i was wondering if the little red light supposed to always be on. The first time when the when i put on the negative battery without the keys; the light was on.

yep. shorting out the power and ground is not a good thing to have happen.

no, it isn't. Time to open up the amp and check if anything has vaporized inside. If it has, you're SOL.

so is there anyway to fix this problem? would a local stereo shop be able to fix this amp? or should i contact rockford fosgate?

Depends what is blown ...

If you have any electronic component skills and a soldering iron ... could probably do it yourself if you got the replacement component.

Maybe...if you've blown a transistor or two, simply replacing them could solve the problem. However, you're going to need a schematic...so a call to RF would be a big help.
