So yea, two ti10d's, and a bx500d in a sealed box, 0.65 cuft per sub. Amp settings are...

Subsonic (15Hz to 35Hz)

Bass EQ (0Db to 18Db)

Low Pass (35Hz to 250Hz)

Phase (0 to 180)

Level (9v to 0.2v)

I'm told that the ssf needs to be off on a sealed box. Does that mean just keep it at 15? Also, I'm assuming that "Level" needs to be at 4v, since the Alpine HU has 4v preouts. The rest, I'm blind on.

I don't know what I need to set these to, or how I go about setting them, or...something. If you can describe what each of the settings does, I'd be very appreciative. If someone could direct me to a site or a thread or just straight up tell me the answer...I'd appreciate it.

if your box is sealed, turn the subsonic filter OFF. there is a switch... find it. what model alpine hu is it? if youre sure it has 4 volt sub outs..... then yea, put the level at 4

Subsonic (15Hz to 35Hz)

If it has a subsonic filter that is always on, set it as low as possible for a sealed box. 15hz is below what most people can hear. The subsonic filter filters out any frequencies below what it's set to, so if it's set to 35Hz, it would filter out any frequencies below that. It's easier on the amp and sub not to try to play frequencies that it can't.

Bass EQ (0Db to 18Db)

Turning this up will increase the output of your subs at a certain frequency, adjust this to where you like it. I leave it off.

Low Pass (35Hz to 250Hz)

This is the setting of where your amp filters out the treble, so if it is set to 50Hz, it will cut off frequencies above 50hz. You should probably set this somewhere from 50-80Hz depending on where it sounds best to you.

Phase (0 to 180)

If it sounds good leave it at 0. Setting it at 180 will make your sub pull in when it would usually push out. Switch it to 180 if you have your subs inverted, or mounted magnet out.

Level (9v to 0.2v)

Set this to what your head unit puts out, although if your head unit is rated at 4v, it will probably never actually put out 4v, or only at max volume, so to set the level, turn your deck up to what you normally use as max volume, play some music, and turn the gain up until you start to hear some distortion, then turn it down a just a bit.

not needed? well ok, put it this way. i have an amp with a ssf, should i leave it on or off? i've never actually taken the time to see what it sounds like off, and yes i have a sealed box. 2 l5's if that makes a difference

an SSF kills one of the advantages of a sealed box...ability to play subbass frequencies w/o the worry of unloading the sub and causing all sorts of nastiness. You don't need one...unless you have a relatively high tuned ported box or like playing test tones.

Not to hijack the thread, but its kinda relevant...

Removing the SSF on sealed boxes makes sense to me... But then I have to ask... in the owners manual for my JBL BPX2200.1, it tells you that for sealed enclosures, set the HPQ to 45-55Hz... Now i know that JBL's DBO & HPQ arent exactly SSF's, but they do similar things. So why would JBL then go and recommend setting their filters so high on sealed boxes, yet on ported boxes they tell you to set it 10Hz BELOW the tuned frequency. Now to me, this seems like the manual is wrong... I would tend to think like everyone else says, set it as low as possible (20Hz on JBL), and set it to the tuned frequency of a ported box...
