AMP for 2 JL 12"w3v2?

Hi i am new to all of this audio stuff and i was wondering what will be a good amp for 2 JL 12"w3v2? I was think a JL 500/1 but will it put out enough power for the 2 subs? if not what other amps would you recommend? Thanks guys i haven't been online for a while computer was a giving me problems ... i owe you guys a BIG THANKS .... i got one more question with that set up which box would be better

1 ) Sealed

2 ) Bandpass

3 ) Ported

and what are the benifits and negatives of them ?? ... i dun know if it would help but i listen to hip-hop, r&B stuff with a lot of bass.

I would choose ported or seal over bandpass. Bandpass boxes doesn't sound any good to me.

if your going for sound quality, go for sealed, if youve got the space and you want it loud, go with ported

Ok thanks i guess bandpass is out of the picture

is there a large difference between the sound quality of sealed vs ported? would i even notice it? and the same question goes for the loadness? would i notice a big difference if i went ported instead of sealed?

The sound quality difference is more one of taste. Some people don't like the sound of ported enclosures in cars as they tend to exaggerate the 30-50 hz region. Others like the extra oomph. The output from 30-50 hz is greater for the same amount of power with a ported over a sealed. The sealed is slightly more linear and exhibits a smaller group delay, but unless you have a really critical ear, you won't be able to tell the difference.

go sealed, my friend has one made to spec on that exact setup and hit like 138 on termlab. and his stuff isnt half way up

Personally I love a sealed box. However, I have had JL's in sealed and ported. Since you like the Hip-Hop and R&B, you will appreciate a ported box more. Like Taxi said, the bass resonation is greater from 30-55ish hz with the same power.

If you have never run a sealed box I would try it in the future, I think you'll be pleased.

Bandpass=amature

Sealed=sweet

Ported=3db>sealed

**** got some bad news though ... i am going to have to change the 2 JL 12"w3v2 to 2 JL 10"w3v2 because the 12's will be too much money .. i though this would be better then getting JL w0 instead .... went to the local audio store today and was shocked //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif well i drive a rsx-s and he said the 10s will sould better in that car anyways? is this true?

I might have to change the amp too ... if i have to ... what will be a good amp for 2 JL 10"w3v2 with a buget of $500 CND ... suggestions for both mono and multi?
