Alternator whine question

Hi, I just installed another amp and sub to my system and i am getting some alternator whine in the front left speaker, but no others. if i take the rca for that speaker out and put it in another channel i get no whine, i.e. it's only coming from the first channel of my amp. So I was wondering if the channel has just gone bad and i need to get a new amp or could it be a ground loop?

Sometimes a noise buffer, or noise gate will do the trick in getting rid of that noise. Harrison Labs makes a nice one, you could probably find one for cheaper though i believe.
