I have a small sound system that use 4 gauge ofc wire and it is connected to a 150 amp fuse, i got a stock alternator on my silverado 4.3 v6, im planning to change it to a 240 amp and do the big 3 upgrade, will I have to change the fuse and 4 gauge wire hooked up to my sound system too?

Hello Alexis.
Disregard the Ai bot. You will not need to replace the fuse or the 4-gauge wire, unless you are power a system that is more than 1500 watts RMS. Either way, if you replace a alternator, you do not have to replace the amp wires or fuses.

Follow this chart when needed. As you can see, even with a 250a alternator, you would not need to change those short runs from the battery. For "peace of mind" you can change those wires to 1/0awg OFC and never have to think about them again.

Be aware, some of those factory cables are smaller than 4awg. I have seen 6awg being used from the factory and I have sold the same when I sold auto parts. It doesn't cost much to upgrade the cable if you buy piece by piece by the foot as you can fit it in to the budget "as needed". For example. A 5ft length of 1/0awg ofc to run first from the alternator to the positive of the battery. One part of the "big 3" done.

Is that RMS rating? What amp is it? If you are actually running a 1500 watt RMS amp, you might want to upgrade your 4 gauge to a 2 gauge. 4 gauge is pushing the limits.

Your amp appears to have an 80-amp fuse on it. So, that would put your RMS wattage to around 800 watts. The 4-gauge wire would be just fine.
