i was on crutchfield today. i saw this new alpine thing called the type-x. it looks like it has a CF cone on it. can anyone tell me about it? thanx.

Well i just went to kens car tunes today and they were talking about it and i went ahead and got an alpine spring catalog for 2004. They messed up on there ratings of rms though because they said all the type R's had the same rms and same with the new type X's. The only type sizes they got in the book are the 12' inch and 10'inch. The 12' inch was rated at "3,000" peak and a "1,000" rms which just one 12 would be enough for me. I asked when there going to be available and he said they haven't even been shipped i hate to see the price for these im guessing its going to be about the same as those kicker squars or jl w7's since there going to be alpines top of the line sub. You can goto "www.alpine-usa.com" and read through there spring 2004 catalog for more about the speaker.

Kicker L7's and JL W7's prices are very very different... a W7 will cost you almost $300 more. My guess is the subs will be under 450

w7 sq, probably not.

Alpine was going after the W7 when they made this sub. They have always been known for having great SQ proudcts, and seeing how this is their top of the line sub it should have outstanding SQ with good SPL. Not saying that it will match/beat the W7, but it should be up there with it... only when they ship and people start to use them will tell though.

If you want to know about the type X's pick up the latest issue of Car audio and Electronics. It has the alpine demo car with two of them

Actually i just called kens car tunes today and the subs are expensive more than the kicker squares. The 10' alpine type X is 450 and the 12' is 500 now of course it will be different prices in different states but this is a special order sub from kens and they wont' even keep them stocked(to expensive im guessing) sorry to break the bad news //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

I liek Alpine but in this case their deign I dont think can go upaginst the MTX or XXX or W7 or Ti or CMPX2 level

I thought the mtx wasn't that good of a subwoofer? I guess state to state everyone likes different subwoofers for instance,kicker was the best brand of subwoofers then i come to mobile and its those w7's that are the best.I do have to agree though if i was going to spend 500 it wouldn't be for the alpine type X i would love to have a jl w7 but there so expensive and the amp you would need to push those power hungry beast would cost you another 500 for a good amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.
