Alpine Bass Engine

What is the Bass Engine feature on Alpine HU's?? I plan on buying an Alpine HU and a JBL BP1200.1 to push my 12" Perfect. Will I be able to use the Bass Engine features on the JBL amp?? I just bought an Alpine 7871 and have a JL PowerWedge running through a Profile mono/sub amp. I believe the "Bass Engine" is just Alpine's name for their bass features. My unit has a three pre-outs; one dedicated for a sub-woofer. There are specific controls on the head unit for the subwoofer: a sub level control, band width adjustment, and you can even turn the sub off (though I haven't checked if it turns off the amp or just cuts the signal to the sub). Then you also have the normal bass controls (+/-; Q). Even though I have a "cheap" amp for the sub, the Alpine sounds great. Much nicer bass than from the Sony CDX650 I replaced. Good luck.

the bass engine is also a term alpine uses on amps and speakers "bass engine ready"

it's basically a ploy to get you to buy all alpine.
