Adding speakers

I drive a Saturn SW2 and the stock speaker setup is kind of disappointing. The only front speakers are in the doors in the lower front corner, so the sound gets slightly muffled from legs being in the way. Now that I have added my subs and tweeters, the mid-range speakers aren't as loud as the highs and lows, and I am having a hard time getting a nice overall sound.

What I would like to know is if I can wire in a couple 6x9s to the existing stock speaker wiring; in other words, can I have my CD player right front output go to a 6.5 and a 6x9 (same with the left side) without any problem, or would it be too much?

I hope this makes sense to someone... I'm not the most technical person when it comes to talking car-audio.

Edit: it might be helpful to tell that the tweeters are wired into the existing speaker wires in this way.

get an amp. get good speakers. stop whining about the stereo in your saturn. Theyre pos's.
Saturn's aren't pos's. I can guarantee they'll outlast your 240 if properly maintained. And this is coming from a Nissan guy.

BTW they also make a better audio platform. My suggestion is to possibly change the front speakers to a speaker that has a "brighter" tweeter I would recommend Pioneer REVs. Add an amp to them and they'll get plenty loud. If you want, you can also do components to bring the tweeter up a little.

The design of the 240's stock stereo system is by far one of the worst I've ever seen, ill admit...but the possibilities of the car, especially being a hatchback, are endless. And for the record, every saturn I've had experience with, whether from my friends or their parents owning them, working on them and what not... they ****. Polymer panels, piss poor construction using materials I would expect from an 80's mitsubishi. And on top of that, most of them up until about 2000 were guaranteed to burn oil at 80k miles. Thats sad. GM should have been ashamed. My friend bob (yes his name is bob) had a 95 sl1 (i think.. it was ugly and purple though) and the speedo broke, the stock driver's seat broke (and hes not fat) so that it sagged horribly in the middle, and had to be CUT OUT of the car because the seat's internals didnt allow the seat to move to get to the bolts. Also, my friend lindsay has an 02 sl2 (i think).. and the dimmer system is retarded and goes haywire at random, the speedo works sometimes, sometimes it displays whatever it feels like, and sometimes it doesnt work at all. It has 95k miles and is starting to burn oil, but not smoke just yet, and has had to have the ****** rebuilt.

The KA in 240s are known to last (when maintained of course) over 250k miles before needing an overhaul.

We own 4 (yes 4, 3 1997's and a 1999) Saturn SL1's. They are very good cheap fuel efficient cars. My brother's does burn oil, but its at 120k miles. My father's gets 42mpg highway, and it has 118k miles on it. How many vehicles (non-hybrid) do you know TODAY that get that kind of milage, let alone in 1997? Also, they are very safe vehicles. My brother rolled the 99 (now parts vehicle) and he literally didn't even get a cut.

Considering the target market that GM was aiming at when they produced the Saturn vehicles, I would say they hit it dead center. Cheap, rather reliable, fuel efficient, and SAFE vehicles.
