4 ohms vs. 8 ohms

I just implied that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Less current on outputs = less stress = less heat = less heatsink needed to dissipate heat ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
lol my bad, I am too lazy to read all the posts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

What's the equations for Qts, Qes & Qms.....is Re anywhere in those equations?? I would think that Re would be factored into Qes....but I am not good with determining exactly how those figures are determined and the equations thereof.

Also....how would having a higher impedence driver affect impedence rise?? Better, worse, indifferent??

And likewise....you could ask the same question of car audio......Why does car audio lean towards 4ohm drivers??

Where's Dan Wiggins when you need him?? Somebody get his butt over here and in this discussion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I think that car audio leans towards 4-ohm drivers because it is more efficient to create power at 4-ohms than 8, and they're working with a very limited power supply. I really don't know why an 8-ohm driver would sound better than a 4-ohm drivers though.

I asked a professor of mine this question many moons ago. He gave me the speil about sq . But he also made a valid point. When you compare an average car stereo to your average home stereo. The majority of the time the home stereo is cranking out a whole lot more power than the car stereo. And a car is 12-13v as opposed to 110v from home. He explained it as being a mix of using the power that is availiable to the fullest extent without creating excess heat that would damge other home components that are located right next to the amplifier 99.9% of the time. I don't know how accurate this was, but it made a little sense to me at the time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
